District-level Buddhist congress held in Ben Tre

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Mo Cay Nam district of Ben Tre province successfully held on October 27 its 3rd congress for the 2021-2026 tenure.  

Guests at the event taking place at Vien Minh pagoda included Most Venerable Thích Nhựt Tấn, Chairman of the executive committee of the VBS’s chapter in the province, other dignitaries of the provincial VBS executive committee in the province and representatives from local authorities.

As reported, the Buddhist congress held in Mo Cay Nam district was the last district-level VBS congress in nine districts and cities in Ben Tre.

The one-day event reviewed its Buddhist affairs in the 2016-2021 tenure and mapped out key plans for the 2021-2026 tenure, and elected a new 13-member executive board of the VBS chapter in Mo Cay Nam district with Senior Venerable Thích Xương Tâm re-elected as head of the VBS executive board in the district.

On this occasion, 13 typical Buddhist individuals and one group were presented with certificates of merit by the VBS chapters in the province and the district, and nine individuals and three groups received certificates of recommendation from the district People’s Committee.
