Conference on pastoral care of migrants opens

Commission for pastoral care of migrants under the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam (CBCV) held a conference on Jan 12-14 at Thanh Hoa diocese Cathedral with the title “Pastoral care of migrants in the context of new Evangelization”.

Attending the conference were Bishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh of Thanh Hoa diocese, Chairman of the Commission for pastoral care of migrants under the CBCV; Bishop Joseph Đào Nguyên Vũ, Secretary of the Commission and representatives from the Committee for pastoral care of migrants of 21 out of 26 dioceses over the country.

Joining the event also included representatives in charge of immigration from religious congregations such as Carolo Scalabrini Order, the Jesuit of Vietnam, Don Bosco Order, Franciscan Missionaries of Mary….

 The three-day conference covered many topics, including the current immigrant situation (domestic and overseas as well as foreigners in Vietnam); activities of the Commission for pastoral care of migrants since 2007; structure of the Commission; immigration pastoral experiences in Hanoi archdiocese and Ho Chi Minh city archdiocese; mission of the central Commission and the Committees for pastoral care of migrants in dioceses …
