Christian organizations call for epidemic prevention and donation to Covid-19 vaccine fund

In joining hands with the government and people in the Covid-19 prevention, Christian organizations have canceled religious practices with large gatherings, called on the faithful to strictly implement the epidemic prevention measures, and practically contribute to the Covid-19 vaccine fund.
Pastor Trần Thanh Truyện, President of the Vietnam Seventh-Day Adventist Church shared that the church currently has more than 2,600 followers in Ho Chi Minh City, and over the past days, all Church members have strictly observed prevention measures requested by the city government for the pandemic prevention such as social distancing and scaling down of religious practices.
Three chapters of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church located in districts 5 anh Phu Nhuan, and Thu Duc city have been closed to prevent the epidemic; Religious masses on every Saturday have been streamed online for the faithful to follow and practice at home. The Church has also asked its affiliated congregations not to gather in large numbers to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the Pastor President said.
Most of leaders of Protestant churches in the country have issued documents or sent letters to their representative boards of provinces and cities and affiliated congregations, asking them to strictly implement guidlines of the health sector in the Covid-19 prevention, as well as call for donations to the Covid-19 vaccine fund.

On June 10, a delegation of the Vietnam Full Gospel Church visited the Central Fatherland Front Committee’s Office for presenting 860 million VND to the Covid-19 prevention work, in which 310 million VND offered to the vaccine fund and the rest presented to the frontline epidemic prevention medical force.

On the same day, Pastor Nguyễn Hữu Dũng from the Representative Board of the Vietnam Evangelical Church (South) in Kien Giang province visited the provincial Fatherland Front Committee’s Office for presenting 15.5 million VND to the pandemic prevention fund.
In Lam Dong province, Pastor Ngô Thanh Hưng, General Secretary of the Vietnam Baptist Church cum Head of the Binh An Baptist church chapter in Tan Thanh commune of the province’s Duc Trong district has handed over 10 million VND to the Covid-19 prevention work in the locality.
In Hanoi, Pastor Phạm Bá Hạnh, Superintendent of the Vietnam Evangelical Church (North)’s chapter in Hanoi shared that the Evangelical Church had donated 50 million VND and kept on calling members to support the epidemic prevention fund.
On June 8, during a ceremony launched for supporting the Covid-19 prevention work in Thai Nguyen province, the Word of Life Evangelical Church’s congregation handed over 35 million VND to the provincial Fatherland Front Committee for supporting the Covid-19 prevention fund.
