The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Board in Ha Tinh province’s Loc Ha district held on April 14 a ceremony to pray for peace at Chan Tien pagoda on the occasion of the pagoda festival.
Chan Tien pagoda festival is annually held on the third day and the fourth day of the third lunar month with many traditional rites and folk games such as boat racing, wrestling, etc.
This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Chan Tien pagoda festival took place with a smaller scale, ensuring the Covid-19 prevention measures.
Chan Tien pagoda is located in Tien An mountain of Thinh Loc commune, the Ha Tinh’s Loc Ha district. The pagoda was built during the Tran dynasty (13th century) and has undergone several restorations and repairs. The pagoda worships Buddha and Mother Goddess.
Chan Tien pagoda festival has been classified as a national historical relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism since 1992.
