Cham people in Ninh Thuan welcome Ramuwan festival in the joy of bumper harvest

Since early days of May, Cham farmers in Luong Tri village, Nhon Son Commune, Ninh Son District, Ninh Thuan Province have been busily harvesting the winter-spring crop season in the excitement of bumper crops and upcoming Ramuwan (New Year) festival 2018.

Many harvester machines, tractor-hooks operating at full capacity in the ripen rice paddies created a picture of a busy season.

Cham farmer Câu Hồng said that, thanks to the guidance of agricultural experts, his family had the highest ever earnings for this year-crop, helping his family to joyfully celebrate this year festival.

According to Head of Luong Tri village management board Đạo Thanh Truyền, the village the only residential area of Cham Muslims in Ninh Son district, with about 3,400 residents who work in the farming industry.

Cham locals in Luong Tri are also known as good farmers in animal husbandry with about 3,200 cattle with horns including sheep, goats and cows, the largest number of cattle in Nhon Son Commune.

According to Imam of the Cham community Đạo Bùi, this year bumper harvest has made locals more excited to welcome their traditional New Year from May 14 -16. Local authorities in collaboration with the festival organization board planned to hold joyful and economical celebrations and continue encouraging the Cham community to uphold fine traditions and make further contributions to rural development in the locality.
