Located in the middle of the rubber in Cam Thanh commune, Cam Lo district of Quang Tri province, a cemetery for aborted embryos and pre-born babies was built by Catholic sisters of Lam Bich loving centre in 2016.
Sister Trần Thị Hiện said that sisters of the loving centre had a deep sympathy for aborted babies and wanted them to have a proper place to rest in peace. Since then, sisters have bought a large area of rubber land in Cam Thanh commune.
In 2016, the cemetery was built on area of 3,000 m2 with contributions from many supporting resources. It contains many consecutive graves with about 1,800 pre-built graves.
Sister Bùi Thị Lệ Diễm, who newly works for the Lam Bich loving centre said that she and Sister Hiện often came to take care of this cemetery.
Every Wednesday and Saturday, regardless of raining or sunny weather, the two sisters often rode motorbikes to the cemetery. They offered incense, pray for these babies. They simple hoped that these babies would rest in peace.
The cemetery of Lam Bich loving centre
According to sister Hiện, 118 babies and children have been buried at this cemetery. These babies have been collected from hospitals and clinics. Each baby has been commonly called Lâm Bich and has a separate number on its grave, Sister Hiện said.
