Catholic parish in Quang Ninh province joins hands in local environment protection

Yen Tri Catholic parish in Hiep Hoa commune of Quang Ninh province’s Quang Yen provincial city has members accounting 90% of the local population.  

For the past years, parishioners in the commune have promoted fine traditions of solidarity and mutual assistance in raising families’ income and improving living standards, as well as boosting rural development and environment protection in the locality.    

Regarding the environmental protection, a waste collection team has been set up, and the dignitaries and parishioners of Yen Tri have not only focused on practical activities to keep their religious worshipping place green, clean and beautiful practices, but also played a pioneering role in the tree plantation and waste collection in residential areas.

Parishioners participate in sweeping and cleaning village roads and alleys

In order to enhance environmental standards, parishioners in the commune have voluntarily donated land for expanding an inner field pathway of 300m-long and building standard roads, as well as made efforts for making their houses green, clean and beautiful by planting trees and flowers, decorating houses, repairing walls, etc.

Besides, the "Green Sunday" launched by the local authority has received practical responses from local Catholics. The movement has helped to clean up roads, large and small canals, as well as eradicate arbitrary waste dumps in the locality, bringing a healthy living environment to local people.
