The year 2014 is 3rd year the Hoa Hao Buddhist executive board in seven wards of O Mon district collaborated with the district Public Security for ensuring public security.
This collaboration has received an active response and strong support from both members of the Executive Boards and a majority of followers in the locality.
Currently, the number of Hoa Hao Buddhists in O Mon district of Can Tho city accounts for 24% of local population.
Colonel Bùi Đức Hồng, Deputy Chief of O Mon District Police said in recent years, the district police frequently dispatched security officers to together with Hoa Hao Budhdism Boards protect public order and security in important events and festivals of the Hoa Hao Buddhism such as religious founding anniversaries, Congresses of Hoa Hao Buddhism. The district police regularly met and discussed with the Hoa Hao Buddhism Executive Board in wards about public order and security situation in the locality.
According to Mr. Lê Việt Sỹ, Vice Chairman of the O Mon district People’s Committee, religious followers actively took part in the movements of ensuring public order and security in the localities. The Hoa Hao Buddhism Executive Board and followers also made an important contribution to charitable activities, and provided supports to families under difficult circumstances.
