Cambur festival to commemorate Ponagar Goddess

The Cambur festival is annually held on the 16th of the ninth Cham month, equivalent between December to January for honoring to Ponagar Deity who considered as Mother Goddess of Cham people.  

The festival also aims to express the gratitude to ancestors and pray for the spiritual uplifting of stuck souls.

This year festival was held on December 26-27 at Cei Khar Mâh Bingu mausoleum located in Ham Phu commune of Binh Thuan province’s Ham Thuan Bac district.

According to legend, Cei Khar Mâh Bingu mausoleum was built for worshipping Cei khar Mâh Bingu who was a talented general of Cham people during the Po Romé King period.

The festival 2020 featured traditional worshipping rituals including processions prayers and Cambur worshipping rites, and folk games and art performances.
