The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Ba Ria Vung Tau province issued on August 29 a dispatch to the district-level VBS chapters and heads of worshipping places in the province asking for a strict implementation of the social distancing measure according to Directive No.16/CT-TTg.
In the current context of complicated epidemic developments in localities, the provincial VBS asked the district-level VBS chapters and heads of worshipping places in the province to strictly implement the social distancing measure according to Directive No.16/CT-TTg for 14 days starting from August 26 at 0.00 am.
The provincial VBS called on local Buddhists to continue joining hands with local authorities in presenting foods, medicines and other necessities to local people in quarantine areas, especially people in need, and proactively response to the Covid-19 vaccine fund of the Government.
Earlier, in order to share the inconsolable grief of families who have suffered loss of beloved relatives amid the pandemic, the VBS’s Executive Committee on August 26 released a list of 37 Buddhist worshipping places willing to receive ashes of people who died due to the pandemic in six districts. (13 in Dat Do district, 7 in Vũng Tau, 7 in Phu My, 6 in Ba Ria, 3 in Long Dien and 1 in Xuyen Moc). These Buddhist worshipping places have provided phone numbers for families to easily contact when they want to send ashes of their relatives who died of Covid-19 infection.
