Buddhist summer course in BA Ria - Vung Tau holds Buddhist contest

The final round of a Buddhist contest as part of the annual Buddhist Summer Course 2018 was held on August 9 in Dai Tong Lam Pagoda located in the provincial city of Phu My in Ba Ria Vung Tau province.

The contest was held by the executive committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s chapter in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and the final round of the contest drew the participation of 18 excellent monks and nuns from class venues of the summer course

During the final round, participating monks and nuns made their presentations on one of topics on the role of the Buddhist layman, the master and the student in Buddhist places, the Buddhist cleric in rented accommodation, the young Buddhist cleric and Facebook, disguise of superstition, the endurance, the offering, the importance of the summer retreat, and the pure land in the physical realm.

Each contestant had five minutes for his/her presentation and three minutes for answering related questions, and the final round took four hours to find the first, the second and third places.

The contest on Buddhist understanding and application of Buddhist wisdom and disciplines practically contributed to learning and practicing Buddhist teachings for participating monks and nuns of the summer retreat course of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s chapter in the province.
