Buddhist Sangha in Nghe An province spends 15 billion VND on social charity in three years

For the past years, Nghe An provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee and local pagodas have proactively encouraged sponsors, monks, nuns and Buddhists to actively take part in social and charitable activities in the locality.

During the past three years (2013-2015), Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in the province actively participated in provision of supports to flood victims, health care and free medical examination to the poor as well as conducted practical social activities with the total contribution of over 15 VND billion.

Typical models in conducting social and charitable activities in the locality included Phuc Thanh Pagoda for providing free lunch for pupils and students in the exam seasons, Can Linh Pagoda for supporting the poor and disadvantaged people in the locality; Dai Tue Pagoda for sponsoring heart surgeries and building charity houses, etc.
