The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Gia Lai province’s Duc Co district successfully held on November 14 its 4th congress (2021-2026 term).
The event taking place in Tu Quang pagoda located in the district’s Chu Ty town saw the presence of Most Venerable Member of the VBS’s Central Discernment Council Thích Trí Thạnh, Most Venerable Member of the VBS’s Central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Board in Duc Co district Thích Từ Vân, representatives of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Gia Lai province and over 20 members of the VBS’s Executive Board in the district.
Guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the Committee for Religious Affairs in the province Nguyễn Văn Nô and representatives of district authorities of Duc Co.
The event elected a 17-member executive board of the VBS chapter in Duc Co district for the 2021-2026 tenure with Venerable Thích Nhuận Đạo, Vice Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Gia Lai province cum Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Buddhist Guidance Board re-selected as Head of the new-term executive board of the VBS chapter in the district.

As reported, in the 2016-2021 term, social charities including the presentation of thousands of sets of supports to the poor, disadvantaged families and people with disabilities, and charitable programs for supporting people badly affected by floods and Covid-19 pandemic, worth over seven billion VND in total, have been launched by the VBS’s executive board in Duc Co district.
