The Buddhist Parents’ Day (Vu Lan) 2016 (B.E. 2560) has been held at many pagodas in Nam Dan District of Vietnam central province of Nghe An, attracting thousands of Buddhists and large numbers of locals.

At Vien Quang Pagoda located in the district’s Nam Thanh Commune, the Buddhist festival was held on August 14 and had the participation of representatives from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Nghe An province and local authorities.

Vinh Phuc Pagoda in the district’s Nam Xuan Commune held Vu Lan Festival 2016 on August 13 with many activities including the lantern ceremony, Buddhist prayers and art performance
The festival is often held annually in Buddhist worshiping places for expressing filial piety and paying gratitude to the parents, contributing to uphold the fine cultural tradition in the country.
