A ceremony for the inauguration of Tu Quang Pagoda in Tien Giang province’s My Tho city was solemnly held on October 30.
The event saw the participation of Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Chapter in Tien Giang province Thích Hạnh Trân, Venerable Head of the VBS Chapter in My Tho city Thích Quảng Lộc and large numbers of monks, nuns and followers in the locality.
Local guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Văn Khuê and representatives of local authorities.
Tu Quang Pagoda was established in 1965 and has been upgraded many times. In 2012, local authorities approved the reconstruction of the pagoda’s main worshipping temple and other buildings on the construction area of 710m2.
According to Venerable Abbot of Tu Quang Pagoda Thích Minh Trực, the total construction cost of nearly VND 10 billion was contributed by Buddhist devotees and sponsors across the country.
