Phuoc Long pagoda in Giong Trom district’s Phong Nam commune of Ben Tre province held on April 10 a solemn ceremony for inaugurating a prayer garden inside the pagoda.
The ceremony held by Venerable Abbot of the pagoda Thích Vạn Bình was attended by Most Venerable Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in Ben Tre province Thích Nhựt Tấn, Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS’s executive committee in Ben Tre Thích Lệ Linh, Senior Venerable Vice Chairman cum Secretary of the provincial VBS’s executive committee Thích Trí Thọ, and large numbers of monks, nuns and lay Buddhist in the province.
Phuoc Long pagoda was established in 1969 and has been managed by 13 successive abbots. In 2019, Venerable Thích Vạn Bình raised fund for the construction of a prayer garden. The garden includes one large Amitabha Buddha statue with 10 meter high and 128 tons weigh casted by a stone block, and 48 small Buddhist statues.
During the ceremony, Most Venerable Thích Nhựt Tấn initiated the consecration of Buddhist statues and the ribbon-cutting ritual for inaugurating the prayer garden.
