Buddhist executive boards in Tien Giang review annual social, charitable activities

The social charity work of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) executive board of districts in Tien Giang province has been reviewed at year-end meetings.

According to reports at reviewing meetings, in the past year, the VBS executive board of districts in the province have encouraged local Buddhists and donors to actively participate in local movements for supporting poor people and flood victims in Vietnam Central, building charity houses, presenting gifts to victims of Agent Orange (dioxin), donating wheelchairs to people with disabilities, presenting scholarships to poor and excellent students, etc.

In particular, for the year 2017, the VBS executive board of My Tho City contributed a total value of over VND 4.5 billion to social, charity activities, while social charities implemented by the Buddhist executive boards of Go Cong, Go Cong Tay and Chau Thanh districts worth VND 3.4 billion, VND 2.5 billion and VND 4.1 billion respectively.

Several executive boards has been honored and presented certificates of merit by local authorities for their outstanding contributions in social and charity activities in 2017.
