A Buddhist Cultural Museum, the first kind in Vietnam, was established by Senior Venerable Thích Huệ Vinh, Abbot of Quang The Am pagoda in 2015 in the central city of Da Nang.
The museum is located in the Quan The Am (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva) Pagoda in Hoa Hai ward, Ngu Hanh Son district.
The museum, which covers over 700sq.m, was set up on the second floor of a building in Quan The Am pagoda with about 500 artifacts including Buddha statues, woodblocks of Buddhist scriptures, worshipping objects, musical instruments dated from the 7th century to the beginning of the 20th century.
Especially, the museum contains some rare and unique artifacts such as a Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva statue made of precious white jade, eight Tantric Buddha statues, a mosaic painting depicting Buddha entering parinirvana.
In 2020, Senior Venerable Thích Huệ Vinh also established Van Hanh – Ngu Hanh Son library next to the museum with thousands of books, documents and magazines relating to Buddhism in order to provide free service for readers when visiting Quan The Am pagoda.
