Buddhist community in Can Tho practically contributes to Covid-19 prevention work

In the complicated context of the Covid-19 epidemic, monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in Can Tho city have made practical contributions for supporting checkpoints set up for preventing and controling the epidemic in the locality.  

Since the city set up quarantine checkpoints in 2020, many Buddhist pagodas and monasteries in the city including Buu Lien pagoda and Phuoc An monastery have offered meals to the task force engaged in the epidemic prevention and control.

In addition, religious organizations in the city have also strictly implemented the epidemic prevention and control measures according to the health sector’s recommendations. Many worshipping places proactively suspended religious mass, festivals, and activities with gatherings of large numbers of people.

Can Tho currently has 13 religions, 27 religious organizations with 387 worshipping places and about 100 meeting places for group religious practices.
