The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) Chapter in Nghe An province and Buddhist groups have organized many charity programs for the poor in the locality for the past days.
During a program held on November 11, in Con Cuong district’s Dong Phuc commune, Pho Mon pagoda located in Vinh city presented 200 gift packages to pupils from Don Phuc Secondary School including warm clothes, pens, candy... and 120 gifts to poor households and elderly people (including cash and objects). In addition, the pagoda has organized a visit and presented 320 sets to local people in Ha Tinh province’ Ky Anh district, each set worth VND 400,000.
Meanwhile, on November 4, the VBS’s Chapter in Tuong Duong district organized a visit to access degraded Luong Minh primary school and provided VND 30 million to Luong Thi Ha's family for building her house.
Dong Yen pagoda in Quynh Luu district has presented 200 gifts to the blind, handicapped, victims of Agent Orange and orphans. Lam Ha pagoda in Dien Chau district in collaboration with Tam Thuan charity group in Ho Chi Minh city have visited and presented 900 gift sets (each gift worth VND 550,000) to local people in 10 communes of Thanh Hoa province and VND 39 million to the provincial general Hospital.
A delegation from Minh Quang Zen Monastery (Australia) and Tathagata Meditation (USA) has visited and met with disadvantaged people in two districts of Nghi Loc and Hung Nguyen. The delegation presented gifts to 250 households serious affected during the recent storms and floods. Each household received a relief package worth 900,000 VND containing cash, rice, noodles, sauces, blankets and clothes.
In the series of activities to welcome the VBS’s 8th national congress, the Office of the VBS’s Executive Committee will also set up visiting delegations and present gifts to the poor and pupils in mountainous regions of the province.
