A traditional water procession festival took place on April 02 at Bao An pagoda cultural - historical site located in Vinh Hung commune of Thanh Hoa province’s Vinh Loc district.
The festival annually taking place on the 27th – 28th of the second lunar month featured unique cultural traditions of Ma riverside area and attracted large numbers of locals and visitors.
After the incense offering, a water procession with the participation of five boats took place on Bao An wharf. Following a traditional singing, the boats started sailing three rounds around Quan Tien bay, Trung Truc waterfall, Ban stone yards and Ngoc rock, etc. then brought water as an offering to worship the Buddha and Mother Goddess and pray for peace and bumper crops.
On the evening of the 27th, a candlelight-up ceremony was also held in front of Bao An pagoda praying for a prosperous and happy year.

Beside traditional rituals, there were many art performances and folk games including pushing sticks, tug of war, human chess, etc during the two-day festival.
The water festival is a unique spiritual ritual not only featuring traditional cultural beauty but also contributing to strengthen the solidarity among the locals.
