On April 25, Bac Giang provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in collaboration with Yen Dung district People’s Committee held a ground-breaking ceremony for an archive and exhibit house for Buddhist woodblocks at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda.
The event saw participation of Chairman of Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Văn Linh, representatives of local authorities and a large numbers of Buddhists in the locality.
The archive and exhibit house has a total area of over 300 m2, with the total investment of nearly VND 30 billion. It’s scheduled to be complete in February 2017, coinciding with the pagoda’s festival.
The collection of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda’s woodblocks included 3,050 woodblocks with 34 titles of contents related to the well-known Vietnamese Buddhist tradition of Truc Lam Zen School.
Local authorities donates for construction of archive and exhibit house
In 2012, the UNESCO recognized the set of Buddhist woodblocks of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda as the world documentary heritage.
Once completed, the archive and exhibit house will contribute to promote the spiritual tourism to the western route of Yen Tu Tourist Complex – the founding place of Truc Lam Zen sect.
