In 2009, she attended a raising-goat training workshop organized by the district’s agricultural office, then decided to buy 7 young goats. With this start of raising goats, she earned from 55 million to 60 million VND per year.
After an initial success, she determined to develop a farm for raising goats. To implement this plan, and after studying the technics herself, in 2013 she leased a piece of land from the local government for building a farm and buying young goats. Facing with difficulties in financing this project, she borrowed 100 million VND from a bank, and together with a self-saving of 50 million VND, she built the farm and bought 20 young goats. From this business she made a profit of 200 million VND per year.
In early 2014, as Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Hường was able to borrow more money from the Central Agricultural Society Fund, she decisively bought more young goats, adding to the current total of 80 goats. With this investment, since the beginning of 2014, she has sold 30 goats and made a net profit of 100 million VND. Besides, she has raised 200 chicken and 2 cows, and started to raise crickets, bringing additional incomes of 20 million VND per year from chicken raising and 2.5 million VND monthly. Therefore, in total she earns from 240 million to 280 million VND a year. She employs 4 regular workers with a stable salary of 5.5 million VND, and other 8 irregular workers.
Apart from developing her own family business, she has assisted 7 families to develop their goat raising in the village by lending them the money to buy her young goats without interest and transferring the goat raising technics free of charge.
Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Hường is not only a successful in family business but also active in community work, as currently she is the chief of the village and head of the local agricultural society. She has proactively participated in fund raising for charity activities, such as the fund “For the poor”, “For returning debts of gratitude”… For these successes, Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Hường was awarded a praising certificate in 2013 by the Nghe An province Union of Women Associations, and many other certificates from local authorities for her achievements and contributions in the part years./.
