Nun Thích Nữ Nguyên Tâm, Abbess of Hung Long pagoda located in Gai village, Bac Giang province’s Luc Nam district, is well-known for her humanitarian activities in the locality.
Nun Thích Nữ Nguyên Tâm was transferred to Hung Long pagoda in 2011, after her graduation from the Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Ho Chi Minh City. For many years serving as the abbess of the pagoda, the nun has raised over VND 2 billion for repairing and upgrading the pagoda.
In 2014, Nun Thích Nữ Nguyên Tâm in cooperation with volunteers launched a humanitarian program for providing porridge to poor patients in Luc Nam district General Hospital. The charity program has brought 100 porridge sets of 15,000 VND each delivered to poor patients every Thursday.
In addition, the Buddhist nun mobilized businesses to support Luc Nam district General Hospital with 2 two-way water purifiers with total value of over VND 7 million to serve patients. A few months ago, Nun Thích Nữ Nguyên Tâm presented nearly VND 10 million to the family of a 4-year-old heart patient in Nghia Phuong commune’s Phuong Hoang village.
In recognition of humanitarian contributions of the nun to the community, Bac Giang provincial authorities presented Nun Thich Nữ Nguyên Tâm with a certificate of merit honoring her contributions to social development in the locality.
