800 year-old pagoda in Song Ngu island

A pagoda was built in Song Ngu island located nearly 4km from Cua Lo beach by Trần Thánh Tông King in the 13th century. 

Song Ngu Island covers two small islands. The big one is 133m high comparing to the sea level and the other is 88m high.

The pagoda is located in the west side of this island on the area of 5 ha and is the place worshipping the Buddha and General Hoang Ta Thon who fought the war of resistance against the Mongol force.

The pagoda has a upper house of three rooms and the lower house of five rooms. On the pagoda’s yard, there are two old trees with from 500 to 600 years of existence and a well regarded as the Fairy Well as it is the only place on the island providing fresh water and never run out of water. The old bell in the pagoda was cast in the 13th century.

The pagoda was upgraded in 2004 and became a spiritual destination for visitors.
