14th national congress of Vietnam Baha’i community convened in Da Nang

Vietnam Baha’i Community successfully held the 14th National Congress for 2021-2022 tenure on April 25.  

The event taking place at the Baha’i Center located in Hoa Minh ward of Da Nang City’s Lien Chieu district drew the participation of about 100 members of Baha’i Spiritual Councils in provinces and cities over the country.

Guests at the event included Director of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA)’s Belief and Other Religions Department Trần Thị Minh Thu, Chairman of Da Nang municipal Fatherland Front Committee Ngô Xuân Thắng, Chairman of the municipal Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Cao Cường, and representatives from concerning authorities.

The 14th national congress elected a nine-member Baha’i spiritual council, as well as mapped out key plans for 2021-2022 tenure focusing on community building activities and strengthening the solidarity amongst religions and of the nation.

Speaking at the event, while extending congratulations to the Baha’i community for achievements of social works over the past year, Director Trần Thị Minh Thu expressed hope that the Baha’i community Spiritual Council would promote their role for guiding Baha’i members to complete religious affairs for the 2021-2022 tenure.

The Baha’i community currently has 7,000 members. In Da Nang, the Baha’i community has three congregations operating in districts of Hai Chau, Son Tra and Lien Chieu with about 200 followers.
