Approval document by the Ministry of Home Affairs on establishment of Theravada Buddhist School of Kien Giang 

Accordingly, the Ministry of Home Affairs approved for the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS)’s Executive Council to establish a Theravada Buddhist School of Kien Giang, and the representative of the school named as Most Venerable Danh Đổng. The Theravada Buddhist School of Kien Giang is located at Soc Xoai Pagoda in Son Tien street, Soc Son town of Kien Giang province’s Hon Dat district.

The Theravada Buddhist School of Kien Giang will operate in accordance with Vietnamese law and operation regulations approved by the central state management agency in charge of belief and religion.

The Ministry of Home Affairs also asked the VBS’s Executive Council to issue the establishment document of the Theravada Buddhist School of Kien Giang in accordance with Clause 4, Article 38 of the Law on Belief and Religion, as well as guide the Buddhist School to observe regulations on belief and religion, and other related laws.

Later, the VBS’s Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha issued on October 9 the decision establishing the Theravada Buddhist School of Kien Giang and handed it to Most Venerable Danh Đổng, Member of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Kien Giang province. The training programs of the Buddhist School shall be in accordance with regulations of the VBS’s Committee for Buddhist Education. The school will officially enroll students and open its first course in 2025.
