Religious organizations in Dak Lak proactively engage in movement to build learning society, promote lifelong learning

Responding the “Week for lifelong learning 2024 and the Vietnam education promotion Day, 77 outstanding religious in Dak Lak province attended on October 2 an exchange meeting organized by the provinical Association for Promoting Education in coordination with the provincial Department of Education and Training on religious organizations’ participation to build a learning society, and promote lifelong learning
Presenting certificates of merit to outstanding religious groups and individuals
The event has reviewed religious organizations’ active participation in education promotion, building a learning society and promoting lifelong learning in Dak Lak province with six presentations from participating religious dignitaries.
Over the past years, local religious organizations have actively engaged in the movement to encourage education promotion, build a learning society and promote national cultural identities, civilized lifestyles, socio-econnomic development in the locality. Dak Lak province has 261 boards for promoting education in religious establishments, 713 religious monastics participating in the executive body of Associations for the promoting education and 161,052 lay religious followers registered as members of the associations for the promoting education in the province.
Since 2022, religious worshipping places have coordinated with social organizations and schools in successfully raising over 40.3 billion VND for supporting the construction and renovation of 15 classrooms, 90 auxiliary facilities, and presentation of 1,007 bicycles and 37,533 gifts to students. They have also provided scholarships and assistance to disadvantaged students, raised over 3.4 billion VND for assisting 2,401 families to overcome difficulties, and created favorable conditions for their children to study without dropping out of school.
In order to proactively implement the movement building a learning society and promoting lifelong learning, 166,765 religious followers have registered to become learning citizens, 72,723 religious households pledged to become learning families and 224 religious establishments committed to become learning religious communities, etc.
During the event, four groups and five individuals have recieved certificates of merit by the central association for education promotion for their outstanding contributions in buiding a learning society for the 2019 – 2024 period. The provincial association for promoting education also presented certificates of recommendation to 19 groups and 21 individuals for their practical contributions to the movement to build a learning society in the province.
Presenting scholarships to disadvantaged pupils
On the occasion, the provincial Association for Promoting Education presented 15 scholarships, each worth one milion VND, to 15 pupils who are children of disadvantaged religious households in the locality.
