The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Ha Tinh province held on July 5 its 4th congress (for 2022-2027 term) at the Buddhist Cultural Center located in the province’s Loc ha district.

The congress saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council; Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, Vice President cum General Secretary of the VBS’s executive council; Most Venerable Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Vice President of the VBS’s executive council cum Chairman of the VBS executive committee in Ha Tinh, and about 300 outstanding monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in the province.
Guests at the event included Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Hoài Bắc, Deputy Director of the Homeland Security Department under the Public Security Ministry Đinh Việt Dũng, and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lê Ngọc Châu.
Ha Tinh province currently has 126 pagodas and 13 districts, towns and cities in the province have the district-level VBS executive board.
During the 3rd term, the provincial VBS has spent tens of billion VND on charities supporting the poor, families of war invalids and martyrs, lonely elder, orphans, disabled children, and children affected by Agent Orange in the locality.
In particular, during the Covid-19 epidemic in the country, the VBS has guided lay Buddhists to strictly implement the State's regulations on epidemic prevention and control, make donations to the vaccine fund, and present cash, equipment and necessities with the total value of about five billion VND to the medical frontline force.
The one-day congress approved key tasks of the VBS chapter in 2022-2027 term and elected the 37-member VBS executive committee in the province for the 4th term with Most Venerable Thích Bảo Nghiêm re-elected as Head of the provincial VBS executive committee.

During the event, the provincial VBS executive committee was awarded with a certificate of recommendation of the Prime Minister and a certificate of merit by the Central VBS; one group and four individuals of the provincial VBS were presented with the certificates of recommendation by the Vietnam Central Fatherland Front Committee.
