The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Cao Bag province held on July 8 its 4th congress for 2022-2027 term at the Central Cultural House in Cao Bang City.

The congress saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Vice President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang, Vice President of the VBS’s executive council cum Chairman of the VBS Executive Committee in Cao Bang; Vice Chairman of the provincial Peoples’ Committee Lê Trung Thảo; Director of the Buddhist Affairs Department under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Lê Minh Khánh, representatives from VBS chapters in Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Lang Son and Ha Giang provinces, and over 300 outstanding monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in Cao Bang.
Cao Bang province currently has four pagodas including one pagoda recognized as the national historical relic site.
During the last five years, the provincial VBS has collaborated with Thien Tam Charity Fund of Vingroup to present over 10,000 sets of support to disadvantaged locals on traditional New Year festival, paid charity visit to families of policy beneficiaries on occasion of Vietnamese War Invalids and Martyrs' Day presenting sets of assistance valued at hundreds of millions VNS; donated over 10.3 billion VND to charity funds launched by local authorities; provided charity porridge at the provincial General Hospital 2 twice a month; and practical contributed to the Covid-19 prevention work in the locality with the total value of billions VND.
The one-day congress approved key tasks of the VBS chapter in 2022-2027 term and elected the 31-member VBS executive committee in the province for the 4th term with Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang re-elected as Head of the provincial VBS executive committee.

During the event, one group and one Buddhist dignitary of the provincial VBS were awarded with certificates of recommendation of the Prime Minister; one group and 11 individuals of the provincial VBS were presented with certificates of merit by the Central VBS; and four local Buddhists were presented with certificates of recommendation by the provincial People’s Committee.
