The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) solemnly held on May 22 a grand ceremony for celebrating the Buddha's birthday at Quan Su pagoda located in Hoan Kiem district of Hanoi.

Attending the event included Most Venerable President of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Former Deputy President Nguyễn Thị Doan, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng, Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Hoài Bắc, Vice Chairwoman of the GCRA Trần Thị Minh Nga, dignitaries of the Central VBS and VBS’s chapter in Hanoi, ambassadors of India, Thailand and Laos in Vietnam, and representatives from concerning central and the city’s authorities.

At the event, Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn read the Message of the 2568th Buddha's Birthday Celebration by the VBS’s Patriarch - Most Venerable Thích Trí Quảng. The message calls on monks, nuns and lay Buddhists to pray single-mindedly for the war to end and hatred to disappear, and to proactively spread love to all living beings and light up the world with the light of compassion and wisdom to create a world of peace and happiness.
