As reported, the organizational structure of the Bani Islamic community of Cham ethnic people in Ninh Thuan province currently has five levels of dignitaries of Po Gru, Mum, Tip, Din and Achar.
During the Ramadan, only dignitaries of the Cham Bani Islamic community would observer fasting and abstaining from dawn until dusk in mosques, and lay followers Cham Bani Islam still take food normally, whereas all Muslim dignitaries and followers of the Islamic community would observer fasting during this month. In these days, lay Muslims and relatives of Cham Bani dignitaries would bring foods and water to dignitaries fasting and abstaining in mosques.
Cham Bani Muslims believes that the act of fasting and abstaining during Ramadan would allow the individual to understand and share sympathy with people who live their lives in poverty and famine, and give them a will to avoid impure thoughts and desires in their life.
