The Long Tong (going to the field) festival 2023 opened in in Dinh Hoa Safety Area (ATK Dinh Hoa) of Thai Nguyen province on January 31 (the tenth day of the first lunar month).
Long Tong is a traditional festival of Tay ethnic group in Viet Bac region and has been recognized as the national intangible cultural heritage in 2017.
During the festival, traditional offering ceremonies of Tay, San Chay and Dao ethnic minority groups to the god of agriculture are organized with wishes of receiving his blessing for verdant crops and prosperity for villagers throughout the year.
In addition, the festival also featured traditional cultural activities and folk games such as “con” (cloth ball) throwing, lion dance, stilt walking, shooting with a bow and arrows, etc
