The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Quang Tri province successfully held on May 12 its 7th congress (2022-2027 tenure).
The event taking place at Sac Tu Tinh Quang pagoda saw the presence of over 500 Buddhist delegates and guests who are dignitaries of the Central VBS, monks, nuns and outstanding lay Buddhists in the province, and representatives of local authorities.
The one-day congress reviewed Buddhist affairs of the VBS chapter in Quang Tri in the 6th tenure, and mapped out working plans for the 7th term, as well as elected a 68-member executive committee for the 2022-2027 tenure with Most Venerable Thích Thiện Tấn re-selected as Head of the provincial VBS executive committee.

During the event, Most Venerable Thích Thiện Tấn, Chairman of the VBS executive committee in 6th term was awarded with a certificate of recommendation by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; the provincial VBS executive committee in 6th term and six individuals were presented with certificates of recommendation by the provincial People’s Committee; and three Buddhist groups and eight individuals were presented with certificates of merit by the Central VBS.
