The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Ben Tre province held from April 6th - 9th a grand ordination conference at two venues of Vien Minh pagoda and Bach Van pagoda.

The conference’s opening ceremony taking place in Vien Minh pagoda located in Ben Tre City’s An Hoi ward saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Như Niệm, Standing Member of the VBS’s Central Discernment Council; Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Thiện Pháp, Standing Vice President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Thiện Tánh, Vice President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Nhựt Tấn, Chairman of the VBS Executive Committee in Ben Tre province cum Head of the Buddhist conference’s Organizing Board, dignitaries representing district-level VBS chapters in the province, and 488 Buddhist nominees.
Guests at the event included Chairman of the provincial Commission for Mass Mobilization Bùi Văn Bia and Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Phạm Ngọc Thành.

As reported, this year ordination conference included 122 fully Bhikkhus and 104 novice-monks in Vien Minh pagoda, and 102 fully Bhikkunis and 160 novice nuns in Bach Van pagoda.
