In Vietnam, an annual average of about 20,000 children has this disease, most families fall into difficult circumstances. They can not afford to pay the amount up to a hundred million of VND for 1 surgery. So there are many cases in need of support from the community.
Understanding the pain they are experiencing, annually Venerable Thich Truyen Tu who hosts Huyen Trang Pagoda supports about 10 cases that have difficulty and need urgent heart surgery. From the trip to verify family circumstances, to co-operate with the doctors to check patients then send to the hospital, to visit and encourage their families, the children after surgery, Heart Surgery Support Program of venerable Thich Truyen Tu was present in most provinces of Vietnam with a desire to help patients who have a heart disease to get a better life. Although the program only help some cases of congenital heart compared with 10,000 congenital heart disease waiting for help each year across the country, but also it helps to reduce the burden for many families and bring smiles to many children who are not fortunate in the society.
Huynh Duc Duy is a case of congenital heart disease. Before his health is very weak, usually get faint, can not do anything, including homework. Annually, spending billions for charity such as free heart surgery program, feeding the elderly and orphans, dozens of charitable gifts sent to the regional and remote areas across the country, but few people know the temple Huyen Trang where is a shelter supporting the elderly and orphans within the temple that has been built two years a go and has not finished. With mindfulness, "Saving a life is more than building seven towers," venerable Thich Truyen Tu said: "The children have heart disease if they are not treated immediately, it will be dangerous. Poor people have nothing to eat, how can they live? Human life is always most important. But if children live here, despite the lack of facilities, the temple has not built completely but they still have a place to sleep, have enough rice to eat, clothing to wear and go to school like any other little friend, so we decide to help more the most difficult cases first. They hope that donors can help to complete construction of clean and safe house for the children and the elderly"
Sharing of venerable Thich Truyen Tu is also the desire of many poor families who have congenital heart disease today. Therefore, hope that there will be more loving hearts to contribute to bring these patients confidence and hope for a better life.
