The Cau Ngu, or Whale Worshipping, Festival was held in Canh Duong commune, Quang Trach district, central Quang Binh province on February 26 (the 15th day of the first lunar month) with a hope for bumper hauls of fish and safe voyages in the year.
The festival has been held annually in the commune for hundreds of years, aiming to encourage fishermen to actively participate in production, support each other at sea, and help protect the nation’s sovereignty over sea and islands.
