The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on November 21 a conference for disseminating religious law for Catholic dignitaries and followers in Vinh Long province. Vice Chairman of the GCRA Nguyễn Tiến Trọng attended and delivered an opening speech at the event.

Overview of the dissemination
The event saw the presence of representatives of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Department in the province, local authorities and Catholic priests, clergyman and clergywoman, member of Pastoral Councils of parishes and communities in the locality.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng informed about belief & religious life in the country, and highlighted that “Vietnam's consistent policy is to respect the freedom of religion and belief of the people”. Over the past year, Catholic activities are increasingly rich and bustling, and grand holidays such as Christmas and Easter are not only ceremonies for Catholics but also a joyful and unite festivals for all people.
During the revolution of streamlining the organizational apparatus, the Law on belief & Religion and regulations related to religion have also undergone many changes to suit the two-tier local government mode and the state management on religion also posing many new requirements, in order to effectively carry out state policies and laws on belief & religion and timely address issues for meeting reasonable and legitimate demands of religious practices by religious followers.

The dissemination covered key contents of state policies and laws on belief & religion, the role and scope of management of governments at all levels in the direction of decentralization and assignment of powers, and explanation of difficulties and obstacles in implementing administrative procedure reform of the two-tier local government model.
