President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Trần Thanh Mẫn had on July 20 exchanges with Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh, Acting Chairman and Secretary General of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics.

The exchange meeting took place during a visit by the VFF leader to Phuc Lang parish in Thanh Hoa province’s Quang Xuong district.

President Trần Thanh Mẫn expressed hope that the priest secretary and the Catholic solidarity committee would timely represent legitimate needs and aspirations of Vietnamese Catholics, as well as  proactively join programs and movements launched the VFF and state authorities for social stability and development in localities.

Recalling Pope Francis’ words for the practice of being good Catholics and good citizens at the same time, the VFF official asked Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh, given his prestige and post, to encourage Catholic believers to make practical contributions to the country through social charities and actions for environment protection.

While praising the priest for his effort in preparations for the 7th national congress of the Catholic solidarity committee for the 2018-2023 tenure to be held later this year, the VFF president hoped the national congress would set out practical tasks and promote patriotic movements in the Catholic community in the country.
