VFF in Yen Bai reviews coordination program on environmental protection, evaluates organization of belief activities & festivals

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s committee in Yen Bai province held on October 3 a meeting to evaluate belief activities and festivals in the province and review the coordination program for promoting religionsrole in environmental protection and climate change response for 2016-2021 period.  

Attending the meeting included Chairman of the Religious Affairs Department under the VFF Central Committee Nguyễn Văn Thanh and Chairman of the provincial VFF’s committee Nông Văn Lịnh.

During the meeting, a reviewing report on the organization of belief activities and festivals in the locality was presented. According to the report, the provincial VFF’s committee has coordinated with functional departments in the province to actively disseminate the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and law on belief and religion to local state officials, contributing to ensure favorable conditions for organizing belief activities and festivals, thus meeting the need of locals in belief and religious practicing.

In addition, the meeting participants exchanged on key experiences for better organization of religious activities and festivals as well as updated information on belief and religious life in the locality.

The meeting also focused on results in implementing the coordination program for promoting religion’s role in environmental protection and climate change response for 2016-2021 period. So far, religious organizations in the locality have actively participated in the environment protection by many ways including the annual dissemination of knowledge on environmental protection and climate change response.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Nguyễn Văn Thanh suggested the provincial committee to ensure the strict implementation of governance provisions on festival organization and lifestyle civilization in festivals. The chairman also asked the provincial VFF’s committee and Department of Natural Resources and Environment to replicate typical environment protection models and promote the training of environmental protection and climate change response for religious dignitaries and deacons in the province.
