VFF in Tra Vinh’s bridge role between local religious organizations & society

Over the past years, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee in Tra Vinh has played its role as a bridge between local religious organizations and society in the province.

Tra Vinh province currently has nine operative religions with 376 religious establishments. In 2022, local religious organizations and followers have well observed the Party’s guidelines and State laws.

According to Vice Chairman of the provincial VFF Kiên Banh, over the past year, the provincial VFF in playing out its role has actively motivated religious followers in the locality to proactively join patriotic movements and social, charitable programs, practically contributing to improve people’s life.

Most Venerable Thích Trí Minh, Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee cum Abbot of Luong Xuyen pagoda informed that in 2022, responding patriotic movements and social and charitable programs launched by the provincial VFF, the provincial VBS executive committee have spent over 80 billion VND on construction of rural bridges and roads, and presentation of supports to poor households and pupils from disadvantaged families, etc.

According to Priest Peter Nguyễn Thái Dương, Head of Kinh Long Hoi Church in Cang Long district, over the past five years, the local Catholic community has successfully raised funds from sponsors for presenting scholarships for 70 pupils, donating 5,000 notebooks, 30 bicycles, and presenting 400 gift sets to children on the Mid-Autumn Festival, with the total value of 483 million VND. The priest and local parishioners in collaboration with the People's Committee in Tan An commune have also supported the building of 15 charity houses, four rural bridges, 19 hand-pumping wells, and offered 300 sets of support per year for poor households, with the total contribution to 1.5 billion VND.

In addition, in 2022, the VFF has held four exchange meetings with religious dignitaries in the province and signed cooperation programs with the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee, the provincial Association for Solidarity of Patriotic Monks, and the provincial Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics for the 2022-2027 period.
