Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) in Soc Trang province Dương Sà Kha on August 11 approved a support package for 92 Khmer Theravada pagodas affected by Covid-19 pandemic in the province.
Accordingly, each affected Khmer pagoda will receive 10 million VND in cash and one set of essential supplies from the provincial VFF. The financial package, valued at 1.3 billion VND in total, would come from the Relief Fund in the province.
As reported, during the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, Khmer pagodas in the locality have suspended teaching and practicing activities, and restricted the number of visitors to pagodas. These pagodas have opened for only charity activities supporting disadvantaged people during the pandemic.
