The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee in Hung Yen province held on August 24 a conference to honor outstanding Catholics in patriotic movements during the 2017-2022 period.

The event saw the participation of Vice President of the VFF Central Committee Ngô Sách Thực, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Trần Quốc Toản, Vice President of the Central Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics Nguyễn Văn Toàn, Chairwoman of the provincial VFF Committee Quách Thị Hương, priests, representatives of local Catholic orders, and 86 outstanding Catholic followers representing over 20,000 lay Catholics in the province.
As reported at the event, since 2017, local Catholics have voluntarily donated land, cash and working days for building rural roads, canals and public welfare facilities. In particular, Mr. Trịnh Ngọc Hà in Ngoc Dong village of Kim Dong district’s Ngoc Thanh commune has successfully encouraged local Catholics to donate over 1,000 m2 of land for building rural roads and over 500 million VND for building the drainage system. Mr. Vũ Văn Hà in Hoang Trach village of Van Giang district’s Me Son commune donated 34 m2 of land, worth over 600 million VND.
Regarding the environment protection, nearly 600 Catholic households in Phu Cu district have effectively implemented the organic waste treatment at home.
During the event, the provincial People’s Committee and the provincial VFF presented certificates of commendation to 20 Catholic groups and 86 Catholic individuals for their outstanding contributions in implementing patriotic movements during 2017-2022 period.
