VFF in HCM City presents gifts to Muslim communities, scholarships to students of Cham Muslims

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) in Ho Chi Minh City held on March 27 a ceremony for presenting giffts to the Representative Board of the Muslim Community in the city and Management Boards of Islamic mosques, and scholarships to disadvantaged students of Cham Muslims in the city, ahead of Ramadan festival 2022.

The event saw the presence of Former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình and Chairwoman of the municipal VFF Tô Thị Bích Châu.

Speaking at the event, while extending congratulations to the Muslim community in the city ahead of Ramadan festival 2022, Chairwoman Tô Thị Bích Châu thanked the proactive participation of Muslims and other religious communities in the city in patriotic campaigns and emulation movements, contributing to socio-economic development, defense and security in the city over the last year.

The municipal VFF chairwoman also highly appreciated efforts of the Islamic representative board in the city, management boards of mosques, and dignitaries in the Muslim community in the city for taking the lead in propagating and mobilizing Muslim followers to well implement social programs and campaigns to speed up urban and rural development, promoting cultural lifestyles in marriage, funerals and festivals, reducing old-fashioned customs and superstitions, and proactively joining the preservation, restoration and promotion of traditional and unique cultural values ​​of the ethnic and religious community.

During the ceremony, the municipal VFF handed over 21 gift sets valued at 81 million VND to the Islamic representative board, management boards of mosques, minor mosques and Islamic residential areas in the city.

In addition, 50 disadvantaged students of Cham Muslims in the city received scholarships worth two million VND each from the Fund for the protection of ethnic minorities and disadvantaged students launched by the Public Security Newspaper.
