The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Hanoi city held on July 19 a meeting to gather comments on the decree to replace Decree No. 162/2017/ND-CP detailing a number of articles and measures to implement the Law on Belief and Religion and the draft decree on sanction of violations in the field of belief and religion.
Overview of the meeting
The event was chaired by Chairwoman of the VFF in the city Nguyễn Lan Hương.
As reported, the draft replaced Decree No. 162/2017/ND-CP currently consists of 6 chapters with 33 articles with its scope covering also the right to use scriptures and express the faith in belief and religions of people kept in custody and detention according to the provisions of the legislation on enforcement of temporary custody and detention, and people serving imprisonment sentences; people put into reformatory schools, etc
The draft decree on sanction of violations in the field of belief and religion consists of 4 chapters with 51 articles, with provisions on administrative violations and sanctioning forms, sanctioning levels and remedial measures, as well as competent authorities to make minutes and impose penalties for administrative violations in the field of belief and religion.
