On August 16, Vice President of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) Ngô Sách Thực led a delegation to visit Can Tho city as part of a plan to promote solidarity and social engagement amongst religious communities.
The delegation met with Deputy Secretary of the city Party’s Committee cum Chairman of the city People’s Council Phạm Văn Hiểu and representatives from concerning agencies, departments and VFF in the city.
The meeting focused on discussion of the mass mobilization work amongst religious communities as well as the need to develop specific policies to attract religious cadres and party members tasked religious affairs in the agencies and departments in the city.
As reported at the event, currently, Can Tho city has 12 religions recognized by Vietnam State with over 485,000 followers and 298 religious worshipping places.
Followers of religions in Da Nang city proactively joint in patriotic movements launched by the VFF and local authorities. Religious followers in the city also made many practical contributions to socio-economic development in the locality, with a contributing value of VND 66 billion to social charities over the past years.
On the same day, the VFF delegation also visited the city Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee.
