VBS in Ho Chi Minh City presents 6 ambulances to Covid-19 treatment hospitals

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Ho Chi Minh City presented on August 25 six ambulances worth 7.2 billion VND to Covid-19 treatment hospitals in the city.  

Joining in the presentation ceremony taking place in Vietnam Quoc Tu pagoda included Senior Venerable Thích Thiện Quý, Vice Chairman cum Secretary of the VBS chapter’s Executive Committee; Senior Venerable Thích Tâm Hải, Head of the VBS chapter’s Information and Communication Board; Venerable Thích Minh Phú, Deputy Head cum Secretary of the VBS chapter’s Social Charity Board and Abbot of Tuong Nguyen pagoda; and Director of the Department for Home Affairs Huỳnh Thanh Nhân. 

According to Venerable Thích Minh Phú, the six ambulances sponsored by the VBS social charity board, the Tuong Nguyen pagoda and other contributors would be donated to five hospitals of Cho Ray, Pham Ngoc Thach, Ung Buou, Binh Dan, District 4, and field hospital for Covid-19 treatment No. 10 for meeting needs of emergency transportation of Covid-19 infectious patients. 

Speaking at the event, Director of the municipal Home Affairs Department Nguyễn Thanh Nhân thanked the VBS in the city for its practical contributions to the Covid-10 prevention and control work in the city.

As reported, Tuong Nguyen pagoda headed by Venerable Thích Minh Phú has provided over 1.2 million free meals and presented over 25,000 sets of food and other necessities to the quarantine centers in the city over the past two months, as well as donated thousands of oxygen tanks, 50 ventilators, hundreds of thousands of N.95 masks and medical protective suits, 10,000 sets of Covid-19 treatment drugs, oxygen masks and other equipment with a total value of over 72 billion VND to the epidemic prevention and control work in the city.
