Senior Venerable Thích Quảng Hiền was elected as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in Dak Nong province at the 4th congress of the VBS Chapter held on August 23.

The event saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS’s Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Thiện Pháp and Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Vice Presidents of the VBS’s Executive Council, Most Venerable Thích Châu Quang, Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee, and about 600 delegates.
Distinguished guests at the event included Director of Southern Affairs Department under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trà Quang Thanh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Hồ Văn Mười and Director of the Home Affairs Department Nguyễn Thị Thu Hường.
As reported at the event, Dak Nong province currently has 135 Buddhist monks and nuns and 44 worshipping places. During the 2017-2022 period, the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee has established three VBS executive boards in districts of Tuy Duc, Dak Klong and Gia Ngia city.
The congress selected the three-member VBS Discernment Committee and the 55-member VBS’s Executive Committee in the province for the 4th term.
