Responding the program on environmental protection and climate change adaptation signed between the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front committee, natural resources and environment department and religious organizations in the Dong Nai province, local Catholic parishes have implemented practical activities for environmental protection in the locality.
In Trang Bom district, Xuan Trieu Catholic parish has provided 1,000 liters of clean water daily to households. Nui Do parish has mobilized local people to dredge canals, plant green trees and flowers along traveling roads. The parishes of Thanh Hoa, Lai On and Tam An have contributed over VND 3.5 billion for building local roads and installing the public lighting system. Up to now, 100% of rural roads in the district meet the national standards prescribed by the Ministry of Transport. In particular, 204 out of 647 routes (accounting for 31.5%) have met bright, green, clean and beautiful criteria.
In Vinh Cuu district, Phu Ly parish has encouraged followers to actively keep surrounding residential areas clean and green. The parish have also helped building power, water and drainage systems in residential areas in the parish.
In Long Khanh district, local religious organizations of Protestantism, Caodaism, Hoa Hao Buddhism have guided followers and locals to proactively undertake activities practical to protection environment such as planting trees, keeping the house, kitchen and residential areas clean and beautiful.
According to a local report, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee have presented certificates of merit to 25 typical religious models and individuals for their contributions to environment protection.
