Training on climate change adaptation held for religious clerics in Thai Binh

  The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment held on July 28-29 a training conference on climate change adaptation for key followers of religions in the Northern province of Thai Binh.

 

The event, held in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs, drew large numbers of clerics  in Thai Binh from religious organizations of Buddhism, Catholicism and Protestantism, as well as representatives from the Department of Climate Change under the natural resources and environment ministry, the provincial religious committee and the VFF central committee.

The two-day training aimed to enhance understanding of climate change amongst religious communities and introduce several models for climate change adaptation for consideration and expansion in religious communities.

During the training conference, representatives of religious organizations also shared practical activities and effective programs for environmental protection and climate change response, including models for collection and processing of straw and thatch, planting of green trees in open space, etc.

As reported, Thai Binh Province is currently home to about 290,000 followers of Buddhism, Catholicism and Protestantism, accounting for 16% of the population in the province.
